What should I expect at the first appointment?
Betsy will have you fill out an intake form that will help her prioritize the focus areas for your treatment. Once you have completed the form and had a brief interview, she will leave the room so that you can disrobe for your massage. In a massage session, all areas of the body are covered by the sheets except the areas that are being worked on at that time.
Are there times when massage should be avoided?
Treatment with massage therapy should be avoided at the onset of any cold or flu-like symptoms including sore throat, nausea and fever. If you are experiencing a fever, massage should be avoided until 24 hours after the fever has broken.
Massage therapy should also be avoided if there is diagnostic work that has not been completed. For example, if you have recently had a fall or motor vehicle accident and you are in excruciating pain, it is advisable to work first with your primary care doctor or emergency services to determine the timing for your first treatment.
What should I bring to the session?
If you are coming for a treatment covered by health insurance, please bring a copy of your prescription and your insurance card so that Betsy can make a copy of them for her records.
Clients may also bring shorts and a sports bra to wear during the session if they are more comfortable doing so.
What types of payment do you accept?
Payments are due at the time of service, unless insurance is being billed. Betsy accepts only cash and checks at this time.
